How We Work

How We Work

Communications

At R.K. & Associates, listening to customers is top priority, so our design orientation is customer-focused with an emphasis on on-going communications. By taking an interactive approach to the planning process, we can make continuous adjustments so that the remodeling project features and budget can be finely tailored to our clients’ needs prior to the start of construction.

Planning

Planning is the single most important part of any remodeling project. For example, when we plan an addition, we go to great lengths to insure that it is in harmony with the rest of the structure. We focus on roof lines, fenestration, exposure to the sun as some of the key exterior considerations. Interior considerations include traffic flow, utility, material selection and matching finishes.

For many projects, like kitchen and bathroom remodeling, we will assist you in color and materials selections to insure a “magazine” quality result while staying within your budget. If you desire, we can accompany you to our vendors’ showrooms to assist in your selection process. We will often create a sample board of your selections so you can visualize how everything will look together before orders are placed.

Larger remodeling projects require a full set of plans and working drawings. We utilize an in-house CAD (Computer Aided Design) system that allows us to produce 3D views of your project from any angle. The advantage is that our customers can actually “see” what the final results will look like before construction begins, insuring that our customers get exactly what they want. R.K. & Associates can also save you thousands of dollars on required design work. We will credit back half of your design fee when you award us your construction project.

Quality Products & Workmanship

The quality of products used in home remodeling projects are a key determinant of the project’s success or failure. It is extremely difficult for homeowners to know what is actually going into their projects.

For example, the heart of a remodeling project is the frame. Is it green or kiln-dried? Kiln-dried is more stable and less inclined to warp. Less warping means less plaster cracking in the long run.

Between the frame and the siding is the sheathing. At R.K. & Associates, we use strong, stable, waterproof plywood, not inferior chipboard.

Quality windows and doors are key to the long term comfort level and efficiency in a structure and the overall satisfaction with a remodeling project. R.K. & Associates uses Andersen™ or better quality windows. Andersen™, a time-tested quality manufacturer, has a 10 year warranty on mechanical parts and a 20 year warranty on their glass seals. For exterior doors, we typically specify Therma-Tru™ clad doors on our projects because they look like wood, are paintable/stainable, don’t warp and seal tight. One of the worst ways to economize on a remodeling project is to use cheap doors and windows as they just do not hold up over time.

Our teams of sub-contractors have been chosen for their expertise, attention to detail and reliability. Maintaining this high level of workmanship insures the successful and timely completion of each remodeling project we undertake.
Commitments to Our Clients

Commitment to our clients’ satisfaction is our goal. By working closely with our customers, we can provide a project that is just what was asked for at a price that was agreed to in advance.

From small to large projects, we maintain the same customer commitments:
